Catalogic DPX 4.15 modernizes NDMP management, introduces VMware backup by tags, and adds enterprise-grade encryption controls including KMIP key management and cloud archive encryption, raising the security and compliance baseline for hybrid environments.

Highlights of this version:

  • Full NDMP Web Management Manage NDMP nodes, configure backup and restore jobs, and monitor NAS protection entirely from the DPX web interface, achieving full parity with the legacy Java GUI and eliminating the need for dual management tools.
  • VMware Backup by VM Tags Target VMware backup jobs by vCenter tag for dynamic, policy-driven coverage. New VMs are automatically included as they are tagged, removing the need for manual job updates when VMs are added or reorganized.
  • KMIP-Based Key Management for vStor vStor now supports KMIP-compliant keystores for encryption key lifecycle management, configurable via UI and CLI, with migration workflows for moving keys between keystore backends to meet compliance requirements.
  • Cloud Archive Encryption Archive jobs now encrypt data before transmission to any cloud or S3 target, with DPX handling encryption and decryption transparently regardless of the target’s native capabilities.
  • vStor Operational Improvements Background image mounting with per-disk progress reporting, direct raw file restore from mounted images to SMB shares without ZIP packaging, and per-volume deletion lock policies for finer-grained retention control.
  • Aggregated Event Notifications Event notifications can now be delivered as PDF attachments, reducing reliance on the DPX UI for operational review and simplifying reporting workflows.
