Two documented Citrix backup strategies
The vPlus 7.0 support matrix documents both single-image XVA and changed-block tracking for XenServer, formerly Citrix Hypervisor. Feature availability differs between the two strategies.
Single image (XVA)
Create full backups in XVA form, run incremental backups within documented constraints, restore VMs, manage snapshots, and assign protection by VM name or tag.
Changed-block tracking (CBT)
Use the documented CBT path for full and incremental backup, VM restore, file-level restore, VM disk exclusion, snapshot management, and access to VM disk backups over iSCSI.

The vPlus matrix notes that incremental CBT requires XenServer 7.3 or later. Licensing and environmental prerequisites may also apply.
Centralize Citrix VM protection in vPlus
vPlus manages virtual-environment inventory, policies, backup and restore tasks, and recovery points from its web interface. The selected XenServer strategy determines which recovery and disk-level features are available.
- Register the XenServer environment as a virtualization provider.
- Synchronize VM inventory before assigning protection.
- Choose XVA or CBT according to platform version and required recovery features.
- Apply protection policies by supported name- or tag-based assignment.
- Monitor backup and restore tasks from vPlus.
- Test full VM restore and any required file-level recovery path.
